University Library of Prešov University (UL PU) is a library-information department of the University.
It serves for the whole University and within its possibilities also for other subjects.

UL PU provides library and information services for teachers, scientists and specialists of the Prešov University, for students of all types of study and for public in the range specified by Library Rules of UL PU.

University Library of PU consists of these branches:

• UK1 - Central Library of UL PU
   

• UK2 - Branch Library

  Library for the Russian Orthodox Theological Faculty of PU and for the Faculty of Medical Care of PU
   

• UK3 - Branch Library

  Library for the Greek Catholic Theological Faculty of PU

UL PU has more than 7,000 users and more than 220,000 volumes in the stock. The Library annually subscribes more than 300 titles of home and foreign journals. Total stock of periodicals consists of about 9,000 volumes.

Since 1999 UL PU has used automated library system ALEPH for serving. The system was obtained thanks to grant project KOLIN (KOšice Library and Information Network), which was financed by Mellon Foundation (USA).

Circulation services are the most used library services, but bibliographic-information services are getting more and more popular, which means bibliographic researches from internal electronic information sources and from external database centers. The library also organises lectures and trainings aimed to propagation and use of information technologies in library activities.

Processing and registration of publication activities of University workers is one of the most appreciated services of UL PU. This service has been in operation from 1998 in system ProfEPC.

UL PU preriodically organises professional seminars, exhibitions or artworks, previews, exhibitions and presentations of books or other actions.

UL PU is the member of many home and foreign professional organizations,  associations and societies (Spolok slovenských knihovníkov, Slovenská asociácia knižníc, SUALEPH, ICAU,...).
