LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS (EXTRACTS): 1) Library-information services of UL PU are intended only for registered users of UL PU with a valid borrower‘s card. 2) The library user is obliged to behave quietly, keep the tidiness and protect the property of University. The library user may not use a cell phone and manipulate with open fire in the area of UL PU. 3) The user of UL PU has a free access to circulation, study rooms and public catalogs. The user can use public-accessible computers for information retrievals in online catalog of UL PU or in other public information resources, offered by UL PU. Other technical equipment of UL PU can be used by the user only in cooperation with employee of UL PU or with his/her approval. 4) Personificated university card (with user’s photography, name and date of birth) issued as the employee‘s card or student’s card has the function of the borrower‘s card for emploees and students of University. In these cases the borrower‘s card is not issued by UL PU. 5) New students can use the Library services only with student’s card of PU. 6) Borrower’s card of UL PU is not transferable. Attendant of UL PU has the right to verify an identity of user with identification card. 7) The changes in surename, address, e-mail address and other important data must be reported to UL PU immediately. Otherwise the user is obliged to refund all expenses of UL PU that arise due to this reason. 8) External branches of UL PU provide lending facilities primarily to users from local faculties. Other users may have reduced loan period for books in demand. The length of the loan period is at the discretion of the librarian. 9) User with documents borrowed from UL PU is obliged to: a) return the documents in their original state of condition (the user may not damage documents and may not make any notes on them), b) examine the documents when checking out and report all the flaws to librarian, c) keep the documents safely (lending to other person is not allowed), d) return the documents in time (before due date), e) pay charges for late return of documents. 10) If a loan period has not expired, user can ask for a renewal of a loan period. He/she can do it personally (using online catalog, or at Circulation department), via e-mail or telephone. The loan period my be extended only once and for maximum of the original loan period. Renew and duration of the new loan period is at the discretion of the librarian. 11) User is allowed to borrow only one item from any title of UL PU. 12) No reservation is allowed for loan. 13) User is obliged to return a document to UL PU before appointed due date. Otherwise he/she must pay charge for late return (without any reference to accepted or unaccepted reminders). 14) If a loan period has expired and user has not returned a document, UL PU stops the circulation services for user. 15) University Library of PU can remind user for expired loan period by sending him/her a reminder: a) 1st reminder - after expiration of loan period, b) 2nd reminder - 1 month after due date, c) 3rd reminder - 2 months after due date, d) director’s reminder - 3 months after due date. 16) University Library does not send printed reminders via post. The only exception is director’s reminder. 17) If user enters his/her email address on Registration Card of UL PU, reminders will be sent to him/her by mail. UL PU guarantees the delivery of email reminders only for email addresses at post server of unipo.sk domain (university mail server). 18) After user has been sent a director’s reminder from UK PU, he/she is temporarily suspended from the right to use all the library services. If a user does not return a document after he/she has been sent a director’s reminer, the Library will take legal action to claim the document at the user’s expense. 19) User can be suspended from the right to use all the library services if the total sum of unpayed charges is bigger than 20.00 EUR. 20) When a document is damaged or lost, the user is obliged to compensate the damage. Compensation must be provided at agreed period, which must not be longer than one month. 21) The best way of compensation is providing document of the same title, edition and binding (or binded). 22) In case of photocopied title (rare cases), the document must be the full replacement with exact identification, it must be complete and readable. If the document does not accoplish aforesaid requirements, refusion of such document is at the discretion of librarian. 23) If the lost title is replaced by relative document, this replacement must be arranged with librarian, who determines a suitable title. 24) User in study room of UL PU is obliged to: a) take off a coat and put it to the cloakroom (together with bag, umbrella etc.) or to the designated place, b) behave quietly and follow instructions of librarian, c) present borrower’s card on demand of librarian. 25) Users are forbidden to do following activities in study rooms of UL PU: a) bringing liquids and food, b) consuming food and drinks, c) attaching electric equipment to electric network, d) using mobile phones, e) using computers for other purposes than searching online catalogs of UL PU or searching information sources of UL PU, f) carrying documents of UL PU out of the study room or damaging them.
